Dental School Admissions Worldwide

Admission to dentistry is organised very differently from one country to the next. This page explains what we record and links to the guides and filters that help you compare.

Entry routes

We classify each program's route only when the school or authority states it:

  • School-leaver / direct entry — Admission straight from secondary school. 64 programs
  • Graduate entry — Requires a previous university degree or a set amount of university study. 15 programs
  • Advanced standing — For applicants who already hold a dental qualification, often from another country; the program leads to the receiving school's own dental degree. 29 programs
  • Transfer — Entry into a later year from another dental program. Distinct from advanced standing.
  • Combined / integrated route — A preparatory or bachelor's stage linked to the dental program; progression conditions apply.
  • Other verified route — A route that does not fit the categories above.

Preparatory or pre-dental years are recorded separately from the dental qualification. For combined routes we record whether progression to the dental stage is guaranteed or conditional, as published. Dentists who already hold a qualification from another country should start with the programs for internationally educated dentists.

What a program record can include

  • Required prior qualification, an existing dental degree, bachelor's or university-credit requirements, and science prerequisites
  • Entrance examinations (national exams, aptitude tests, school-run exams) and interviews
  • Manual-dexterity and practical or bench assessments, where the school uses them
  • Language requirements and tests
  • Nationality or residency restrictions and the application route for each applicant category
  • Application fees, intakes and deadlines for a stated year — never rolled forward
  • Clinical-training facts that affect your plans: patient-care requirements, simulation, supervision, required travel and clinical language

We never assume an examination requirement from the country alone. If a requirement is not on an official page, the profile says “Not verified”.

Domestic and international applicants

Many schools admit only through a national allocation system, and many have separate routes, quotas or fees for international applicants. Whether a school accepts international applicants is recorded as accepted, restricted, not accepted or not verified — and it is a filter, not a condition for being listed. It is also separate from the teaching language. International admissions collection · English-taught programs.

Before you apply

  • Read the school's own admissions page; every school profile links to it where we have it.
  • Check the licensing rules of the country where you intend to practise: a degree from one country does not guarantee registration in another. Recognition explained.
  • Ask in writing what tuition covers — instruments, laboratory work and clinical consumables are often charged separately. Tuition and funding.
  • Browse our guides for choosing a school and questions to ask before paying a deposit.

DentalSchools.app is not an admissions service. Apply only through the school or the official national admission system.
